The 444 mile Natchez Trace begins in Tennessee and ends in Natchez, Mississippi. The trace was used as a route to connect portions of the Mississippi River to salt licks in central Tennessee from the mid 1700's to the mid 1800's by the Kaintuck boatmen and various American Indian tribes.
